Present Tense

Present tense digunakan untuk menyatakan :

1. Kejadian yang berulang-ulang (repeated action) atau kebiasaan (habitually)

contoh :

She always forgets her purse

You always forget your purse

He goes to office by bike every friday

We go to office by bike every friday

Jika subjeknya he, she, it kata kerjanya ditambah akhiran s/es

2. Fakta (General Truth)

contoh :

Cats like milk

Pekanbaru is in Indonesia

3. Kejadian yang telah terjadwal (Scheduled Events)

contoh :

My school starts at 7 AM

Rumus Present Tense :

Subject + Verb1 + Object

(He,She,It) (Verb+es/s)

(you,they,we,I) (Verb1)

The train leaves tonight at 6 PM (+)

The train does not leave tonight at 7 PM (-)

Does the train leave tonight at 6 PM (?) Yes, it does / No, it does not

note:

yang perlu diperhatikan pada kalimat yang diikuti oleh kata kerja adalah penambahan s/es pada akhiran kata kerja. Subjek He, She, It (benda atau binatang) untuk kalimat positifnya kata kerjanya ditambah s/es. Tambahan s buat akhiran huruf konsonan (mati), akhiran es buat akhiran huruf vokal. Tapi buat kalimat negatif dan introgatif kata kerja akan kembali menjadi bentuk pertama karena ada do/ does. Pemakaian 'does' buat subjek he, she it. Pemakaian do buat subjek I,You,They,We
